We have been banging on for ages about Arsenal’s need for a defensive midfielder to give Arsenal more steel.
But if they can do a deal for Arturo Vidal they will have a player who can do much more than just defend.
The Mirror writes:
Arsenal are set to seal a deal for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.
That is according to Chilean newspaper La Stampa, who report Vidal will move to Arsenal for £21million.
He’s a player with a skill set of rare variety. He is so tough in the tackle and has great athleticism. He’s a diligent team player who rarely shirks his duties.
But he also has such forward thrust about his game. He loves to run at the heart of defences and has great passing range. And the icing on the cake is his finishing ability.
Manchester United might have done a deal for him last summer but there were concerns over his long term fitness after a serious knee injury. But those worries have been put to bed after another excellent season.
Sky dampened the rumours later in the day when they said:
Reports linking Arturo Vidal to Arsenal are wide of the mark, according to Sky sources.
The Juventus midfielder was “90% certain” to make a move to north London, according to reports in Spain.
We know that Arsene likes Vidal and, considering his patent love of midfielders, it’s difficult to see him not fancying the idea of bringing the Chilean to Arsenal if the lad is available.
So while reports of a deal may be a little hasty this one could well have substance – and what a deal it would be.
Let’s take look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans: a perfect use of the company coffers?
