To have won 11 international caps by the age of 20 is hugely impressive. And to do it for a team with the quality of Ghana is all the more so. Which is probably why reports have surfaced of Chelsea interest in this prodigious young talent. The Daily Mail writes:
Chelsea have discussed a £10.7million (€15m) offer for Augsburg left back Baba Rahman.
The Bundesliga side want £15m for the 20-year-old Ghana international and the added complication is an ongoing dispute between the player’s agents and Chelsea over the fees and representation of Mohamed Salah. Talks were held last weekend in London.
The youngster only signed for FC Augsburg last summer but such has been his progress – the lad played a surprising 31 times in the league for the Bundesliga outfit – that he is apparently drawing interest from some of Europe’s big boys.
If there is one area of the Chelsea team that is still uncertain it’s at left back where Ashley Cole still hasn’t been properly replaced.
Cesar Azpilicueta has been excellent there, keeping new man Felipe Luis out of the side. But we think that he will eventually move to his more natural right flank when Branislav Ivanovic finally starts to wane, leaving the left side under provided for.
So perhaps Chelsea are thinking long term on this one. We certainly like the look of the player – he’s a tireless athlete with a great future ahead of him.
Let’s see the lad in action. Chelsea fans: can he be the long term solution on the left flank or would you sooner see a seasoned international join the club?
