Firmino: scoring goals for fun

Class Act

Liverpool are reportedly making progress in their bid to sign the superb young Brazilian creator Roberto Firmino. The Hoffenheim attacking midfielder has had the best two seasons of his young career, scoring 22 and 10 goals respectively, for the Bundesliga outfit and also starring for Brazil at The Copa America.

With this sort of form he will have drawn admiring glances from around the world of football so Liverpool still have their work cut out to sign a player who is now a regular starter for the national team.

But, if they do complete an excellent deal, where will the lad play? In truth he has many similar qualities to his Brazil team mate Coutinho. Both link up play beautifully and drift around the park playing between the lines of the opposition midfield and defence. But they seem to work well in tandem at international level so there is no reason to think that they can’t form a great alliance for Liverpool.

We like the idea of a 4-2-3-1 with Firmino in the hole at number 10. He can play out wide but is such a good passer of the ball and a real unlocker of defences, that it’s almost a crime not to play him through the middle. Coutinho, meanwhile, is probably pacier and can play out wide with ease. We have popped Nathaniel Clyne in at right back as he would be an ideal signing for Liverpool.

liv can

Or Brendan Rodgers could opt for Firmino in a front three, but we think that this would limit his ability to create as well as score.

4-3-3 liv

Alternatively, if Brendan Rodgers wanted to use the 3-5-2 which he employed at times last season, then he could use the same trio in much the same way but with the width coming more from the full backs in a tasty looking line up.

mil

Firmino is an adaptable player who would walk into most teams. But we would like to see him play through the centre of the park where he can make countless assists and arrive late to score goals for Liverpool.

Liverpoool fans: where would you like to see Firmino play?

Got to be 4 at the back after the 3 back line failure of last season with a new right back plus centre half . Milner with his hard work rate and influence to captain the side rather than Henderson. Plenty of pace with Walcott and Aubameyang who both csn alsi score goals plus Firmino and Coutinho with there creativity and also they can score goals . Bacca or Sturridge arr also both goal scorers if Sturridge can get fit of cause
