Liverpool have made another bid for powerful wide man – report

Clyne - Power, athleticism and precision

Power and Pace

Liverpool are doing some superb early business this summer as they look to kick on from a bitterly disappointing campaign in which they dropped out of The Champions League places.

Roberto Firmino needs little introduction after starring for Brazil in The Copa America alongside fellow Liverpool man Philippe Coutinho. And we also think that the capture of Danny Ings could prove to be a really important one. Not too much is expected of him straight away but he’s a very intelligent and technically gifted player.

And latest reports suggest that Liverpool could be on the cusp of another excellent deal. The Guardian reports:

Liverpool increase bid for Southampton right-back Nathaniel Clyne

• Liverpool raise their offer to £10.5m for England defender

The initial offer was for £10m and, although the report states that the selling club are hoping for a fee in the region of £15m, this offer – which could rise to £12.5m – may be enough to force the hand of The Saints.

With just one year left on the contract of the player, their negotiating power may be limited. They wouldn’t want to see the player walk away for nothing next summer.

Clyne has just won his 5th cap for England and looks set for a long stay in the national side. He’s explosive, accurate in defence and loves to get forward and whip crosses into the box.

We have to admit surprise that clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United haven’t shown more serious interest in the player.

But their loss will surely be Liverpool’s gain if he does sign, because he has been one of the best performers in the league for the last couple of years.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Liverpool fans: another top deal if it comes off?
