Player power is more potent than ever and we should state that Argentine superstar Sergio Aguero has once more stated that he is happy at his current club, in response to rumours about his future and interest from Real Madrid.
But that hasn’t stopped the speculation intensifying about a possible move to Spain in the latest news cycle in the British media. The Guardian reports:
Next to that desk is a fax machine, containing a piece of paper that details Real Madrid’s offer for Sergio Agüero. The Spanish club are dangerously underweight when it comes to attackers and are determined to get their man who is determined to stay in Manchester
At 27 we do feel that this might be the best, last chance for the player to move to an even bigger club. He’s won trophies in England but his club looks no closer to scaling the heights of European football. With intense speculation that Real Madrid will offload Karim Benzema this summer they could be left with two choices – play Cristiano Ronaldo up top or buy an even better striker than the Frenchman.
However ridiculous it sounds, Ronaldo would almost guarantee Real Madrid 50 goals if he played up top. But perhaps his myriad talent is wasted so far from the meat of the action – we always like to see him running at the opponent from deep – and Aguero is one of the few players in the world that could turn out to be an upgrade on Benzema, who has just had arguably his best season at the club.
But a change is as good as a rest and Real Madrid may well feel the need to freshen things up in attack. To this end Benzema seems like the most obvious player to sell.
While a deal for Aguero stills seems remote at the moment, a change in the stance of the player himself might bring a deal to fruition.
Let’s see the maestro in action. Real Madrid fans: an upgrade on Karim?
