Manchester City are being linked with some more huge names this summer as they attempt to get back to the top of the pile after a disappointing campaign.
But it’s good to hear that they are serious about investing in young talent, long-term, as well. They have built an incredible new training complex they are now looking for young players to fill it.
The Daily Mail reckons that Manchester City are considering bids for a couple of French youngsters:
Manchester City are continuing to explore the French market for up and coming talent as they discuss a move for France U18 international David Faupala. As well as rivalling neighbours United for Valenciennes’s 16-year-old defender Dayot Upamecano, they have spoken again on Lens forward Faupala.
The teenager, just 18, played for Lens in the reserves last season, during which time he also got an offer to play for Watford. Juventus are also said to have monitored his situation with interest. Meanwhile Manchester City sent scouts to see the lad play for Lens U19s vs PSG last season.
The report also suggests that Manchester City have their eyes on another prodigy:
City have also checked on the progress of Arles Avignon attacking midfielder Ismael Bennacer. The 17-year-old is another United have watched as have Arsenal. He made six appearances for his club in France’s second division last season and City have invited him over to Manchester to look at their training facilities.
With so many A-list talents in the Manchester City squad, and with opportunities for youngsters to get in the team therefore limited, it may be a hard sell for their representatives to get young players to join the club. But that state of the art training facility has given them the edge on many of their rivals.
Let’s take look at the lad in action.
