Manchester City make official contact for world class talent. Most likely destination? Report

Sterling: Flyer

Gone?

There has been an awful lot of speculation this week that Manchester United are trying to bring Raheem Sterling to the club. Never known for making things easy for themselves, you might be forgiven for wondering if the Old Trafford outfit might be better off spending their time on other targets.

Because Liverpool don’t want to lose Sterling and certainly not to Manchester United. It’s a small mercy for the club, then, that there are clearly other teams interested in signing the lad.

At 20 years of age we think that Sterling may feel too young to make the jump to a team like Real Madrid. Moving abroad at this stage of his career could be calamitous. So perhaps a move to Manchester City is the most likely option at this stage. The Sun says that City have now made official contact for the lad.

Sterling seems ever more like to move on this summer after seemingly burning his bridges with Liverpool. We have seen bigger U-turns in the past (Wayne Rooney at Manchester United for one), but Sterling may now feel that his current position is untenable.

FINAL WORD: With Manchester City losing the versatile talents of James Milner this week they may well look to bolster in the wide areas. And who better to plough your money into than a 20 year old home grown talent who is frighteningly fast and offers genuine penetration? Manchester City fans would rightly be made up if this move came off.

Manchester City fans: no brainer?
