There has been a lot of hype about Chelsea’s youth system over the last few years.
But we all know that there is a huge leap between playing well for the reserves as a youngster and making the grade at one of the best clubs in the world.
One of the best ways for kids to get experience is to send them on loan and it seems that Chelsea could be about to reap the benefits of such a deal over the next season.
Because Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traore has been making waves in Holland where he has scored 16 goals in 31 games for Vitesse from the attacking midfield and wide areas. The Burkina Faso international has been banging them in for fun and Vitesse boss, Peter Bosz, reckons that Jose is crazy about the lad.
“Jose Mourinho is crazy about him. If the opportunity is there, they prefer to take him back.”
The player himself added:
“Chelsea are very happy with my development, but I will only hear what is next in the summer.
“I’m ready when the opportunity comes and I’m not afraid to show my ability at Chelsea.
“This has been the first time I have played a full season in professional football. I’ve taken a huge step forward physically.”
He’s just 19 and hasn’t yet played a proper game for Chelsea but, judging by his recent form, that won’t be too far in the distance.
Let’s see the lad in action. Chelsea fans: can he force his way into a team of superstars?
