Chelsea will spend another summer exercising restraint in the market as the new FIFA regulations force them to balance their books.
We expect them to spend money on two or three major stars but other players will go out on loan to give them much needed experience and ease the wage bill.
One such player could well be Kurt Zouma. He put in some manful displays toward the end of last season but it’s questionable whether he is ready to play every week for Chelsea yet.
And Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has confirmed that his club are interested in bringing the lad to his club this summer:
“I already signed [Niklas] Moisander from Ajax and I am trying to get Zouma, because they are very physical players,”
One would assume that this would be a loan deal. The 20 year old has only played 15 times for Chelsea since he joined in January 2014. But his £12m fee speaks of a talent that Chelsea were prepared to invest big money in and we think he can make the grade at Stamford Bridge. He certainly has the physique and ability to be a Jose Mourinho regular.
Chelsea fans: would it be the right thing to let Zouma go out on loan again next season or is it time to give him a serious run out in the first team?
