Real Madrid’s incoming coach Rafa Benitez already has one of the very strongest squads in the world to choose from. But the club loves a summer splurge and, with the new man coming in, you would expect that he will want to make a marquee signing in order to start with a bang.
Rather unfairly, Karim Benzema has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid almost since he signed for the club. But he’s survived since 2009 – longer than most Madrid players – and he has just had arguably his best season for the club.
Yet rumours persist that other clubs are keen and it’s perhaps the most obvious way for Benitez to freshen up the front line. Because surely he will want to retain Bale, Ronaldo and Rodriguez.
The Mirror reckons that Benitez and Real Madrid know who they want:
City have vowed to fight off any bid by incoming Real boss Rafa Benitez to snatch their star striker Sergio Aguero.
This wouldn’t be a straightforward transfer – Manchester City have no need to sell one of their very best players – but they rarely are straightforward for Real Madrid are they?
It really comes down to whether the player fancies a new challenge. At 26 he’s in the form of his life and he would offer even more mobility and pace than Benzema.
There are very few players who could improve this attack but we feel that Aguero is one of them.
Whether Real Madrid can text one of the richest clubs in the world to sell remains to be seen.
