Manchester United: The Good News about David De Gea

Manchester United now seem almost certain to lose David de Gea to Real Madrid as player reportedly said his goodbyes to team mates this week.

He’s been a fantastic keeper for the club – not just brilliant at his job but also spectacular to watch – which is exactly how Manchester United like their footballers.

And it’s really disappointing that Manchester United may lose him at a time that Louis van Gaal, with Memphis Depay signed already, looks to be forming a new vintage which could equal or even surpass the achievements of Real Madrid over the next couple of seasons.

But the good news is, if you have to lose one player from your team, then it would surely be the keeper. It is hard to find players as solid and agile as him between the sticks.

BUT LET’S NOT PRETEND FOR A SECOND THAT THIS IS SOME KIND OF RONALDO STYLE SAGA.

While CR7 has proven almost impossible to replace, Manchester United need only go down to Stoke and spend about £8m to buy something approaching the same standard with Asmir Begovic. Even Victor Valdes can do a job next season. Because, despite looking a little rusty in his full Manchester United debut, he also pulled dog some sensational saves.

So while this move may smart for Manchester United fans for a day or two, the great news is that the team will recover almost immediately, as opposed to 2009 when everyone around Manchester United fooled themselves into thinking that it would be business as usual without Ronnie.
