He would be a very interesting prospect at Chelsea and The Mirror says that the Stamford Bridge outfit are now among a clutch of top clubs who are considering a bid for the back in form Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke:
Jose Mourinho is considering hijacking Liverpool’s move for Christian Benteke.
Villa value Benteke in the £30 million (42.1m Euros) bracket, but are reluctant to sell the Belgium international.
After a year out with injury he’s taken his time to regain momentum. But now he’s back in his stride he has reminded us all why so many big clubs reportedly like him.
He’s got power in bucket loads, which makes him suited to The Premier League, but he’s also got such lovely feet and is just as likely to produce a sublime flick as he is to batter the ball from thirty yards out.
Just 24 year of age, he’s still got time to learn and improve. If he does leave Villa then he probably won’t struggle to find a new club.
FINAL WORD: Benteke is good enough to improve the Chelsea squad but, with Diego Costa the nailed on first choice number 9, and likely to start whenever he’s fit, would the Belgian be happy to spend substantial time on the bench?
Let’s see the lad in action: Chelsea fans: keen?
