Of course Manchester United need to retain a nucleus of their best players this summer. But we are of the opinion that big changes are required in the playing staff once again.
Over the last two years the bar has been seriously lowered and Manchester United need to invest.
They should build their team around David De Gea, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney and Memphis. Keep Herrera and Di Maria with the expectation of much improvement from both.
They should also invest in their young talent like like Adnan Januzaj, Paddy Mcnair, James Wilson, Tyler Blackett and Andreas Pereira.
But, beyond those names, we think that everyone is fair game for a transfer.
If the right offer came in, we would be happy to offload the likes of Mata, Young, Fellaini, Evans and RvP. They are all good players but Manchester United shouldn’t settle for ‘good’.
Manchester United need to add pace and power to their squad and the latest name in the hat Holland international and PSV captain Georgina Wijnaldum.
The Sun says:
MANCHESTER UNITED are ready to raid PSV again — this time for captain Georginio Wijnaldum.
And The Manchester Evening News:
Georgino Wijnaldum could follow Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven to United.
Midfielder Wijnaldum, 24, also played under Louis van Gaal at the World Cup last year and scored in the Third Place Play-Off win over Brazil.
He’s a really interesting prospect. Similar in some ways to his team mate Memphis. He’s got great upper body strength, is fast and explosive off the mark and scores goals (17 goals and 5 assists in 40 games for PSV this season).
He may lack the finesse to be a star name for Manchester United straight away. But we think that he has the potential to become an important member of the squad – we like him.
Let’s see the lad in full flight. Manchester United fans: can you see a place for him in the starting eleven?
