Reading the comments of the Chelsea fans over the last month it is clear that many to most of you want to see Paul Pogba join the club this summer.
Of course he would fit into most sides in the world and add invention, energy and goals to a team. But there is a worrying reality that pretty much every top club seems to be in for him. Even Barcelona appear interested and they can’t sign anyone until their transfer ban is lifted in January.
With a bidding war likely the final price will be astronomical. And Chelsea would surely have to sell big names to make a deal happen.
But The Sun reports that they are looking at a cheaper but possibly even more suitable option for their midfield this summer.
CHELSEA lead the race for £40million (€55m) Atletico Madrid star Koke — but they face stiff competition from another Premier League side.
For all the Frenchman’s qualities, the main difference between the two – as far as we are concerned – is Pogba’s penchant for the odd amazing goal. Pogba has scored 9 this season but Koke isn’t far behind on 6.
And we feel that Koke, with his powerful frame and discipline, could be even better suited to the physical demands of The Premier League than Pogba.
He may be less of a ‘Hollywood’ signing but he could well be a more realistic target and one who can make a huge difference to the destination of The Premier League, next time around.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans: a more achievable target?

If Chelsea were to buy any player from Athletico this summer to improve their existing squad IMHO it would be Arder Turan their Turkish playmaker. Turan is the powerhouse and most creative attacking midfielder Athletico Madrid possess. As for Pogba OR Koke either would be prohibitively expensive bearing in mind FFP and purely as defensive midfielders to partner Matic next term. We also have the excellent Marco van Ginkle set to return after a recently successful loan to AC Milan. So successful in fact that the Italians want to now buy our extremely talented Dutch youngster.
