There have been rumblings in Italy that Chelsea are, rather surprisingly, keen on the services of Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo.
The veteran midfielder, who is 36 later this month, has had a wonderful swan song at Juve after AC Milan, the club where he won two Champions League medals in 2003 and 2007, let him go in 2011.
Pirlo, who has 113 caps for Italy, went on to prove Milan wrong with some of the best performances, for club and country, of his who career. And it’s not beyond the limits of possibility that the Chelsea manager, a canny operator in the market, could make a move if the player is ready for another transfer.
But, having watched the Juventus vs Real Madrid game in The Champions League on Wednesday, we think that he may struggle to adapt to the pace of The Premier League. Faced with the speed of play of Real Madrid, Pirlo didn’t make a huge mark on he game and he may be best suited to another year or so at the top level in Italy, where the pace of the game is arguably slower.
But Jose has surprised us before and perhaps he has another trick up his sleeve with regards Pirlo.
Let’s see the lad in action. Chelsea fans: can he add anything to this squad?
