Chelsea are being linked with a move for Christian Benteke as the summer transfer window approaches.
After finally recovering from a serious injury and returning to the boil, his current club manager, Tim Sherwood, recently said of the Belgian:
“I don’t know if there’s a better striker in Europe right now. He’s the best,” said Sherwood.
And The BBC reports:
The Villa manager said he does not want to sell his star asset, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool or Chelsea.
It’s obvious that Chelsea will need to reinforce their front line if they are to challenge in Europe next season. With Didier Drogba nearing the end, The Blues will need another stellar addition.
The big question is whether Benteke will be happy to contest a starting role in the team with Diego Costa. A firm favourite at Chelsea, Costa normally plays up top on his own when he’s fit.
Bennett would certainly be a good signing for Chelsea, but we think that he will assess his other options before jumping into a move. He may feel that Liverpool, for example, would provide a better opportunity for him to nail down a position in the first eleven.
