Arsenal

Bid reported as Arsenal linked with 22 year old who can win them the league

Watching Arsene Wenger smiling smugly each season, when his team picks up a bit of form after the main prizes have already drifted away, is one of the most frustrating sights in football.

He can of course be justifiably pleased with himself for keeping Arsenal in The Champions League every season while the stadium was built and paid for – it’s a feat that even Manchester United couldn’t match with their far bigger budget – but his refusal to buy an anchor man makes many fans of the club want to pull their hair out.

It’s not as if Wenger had to break the bank to sign a player who could make Arsenal harder to beat. Schneiderlin, Wanyama and Matic could all arguably have been acquired within budget.

We believe that Schneiderlin’s form over the last year will alert other top clubs and make his signing even harder this summer. But latest reports suggest that Arsenal are in for a player who we rate extremely highly and could take Arsenal to a title.

London 24 opines:

Arsenal and Tottenham will reportedly go head-to-head in order to sign Monaco midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia.

…according to French publication Le10 Sport Tottenham have now joined their north London rivals in pursuit of the 22-year-old. Monaco have set a price tag of €35m (£25m) for their star midfielder and a mystery Premier League club has reportedly submitted a bid of that figure. Whether that is Tottenham or Arsenal remains to be seen,

Kondogbia is precisely the player that Arsenal needs in order to challenge for the title

Kondogbia is precisely the player that Arsenal needs in order to challenge for the title

Kondogbia only joined the French club last summer but Monaco appear to be tightening their belts after getting a hefty fine from FIFA for breaching transfer regulations.

He’s a wonderful player with myriad talent. He’s strong as an ox, quick, can play in defence or midfield, passes the ball beautifully and has great positional sense. He’s something of a balletic bulldozer if you like – powerful yet elegant.

Francis Coquelin is a decent player and has done well this year. But his role in the team has only highlighted the importance of having a shield for the defence. And Kondogbia is as good as they come. Even if Schneiderlin did want to join Arsenal, we would be tempted to sign Kondogbia instead – he’s that good.

Let’s see the imperious midfielder in action. Arsenal fans: keen?

The problem is Wenger has his own valuation for a player. Even if the difference is not that significant, the fm wont bite. This happened when Arsnal were looking for a gk following the Birmingham lc fiasco.
Then he will be holding Arsenal back from going to the next stage.
