With Manchester United travelling to Goodison on Sunday Everton boss Roberto Martinez gave his weekly press conference and said that The Toffees are facing a team in their best form of the season.
‘I think that we are facing a Manchester United side that are in the best moment of their season.’
We felt that we were a bit hard done at Old Trafford. We feel that the way we finished that game we deserved little bit better.’
But that’s a far cry from this current United side:
‘Manchester United are fighting to try to get as high up in the table, even finishing second in the league or above the champions Manchester City and I think that reflects the big turnaround that this team had over the last 6 to 7 months.’
Machester United were indeed a pale imitation of their current selves when Everton came to Old Trafford on October 5th. Manchester United found themselves clinging on for the last half hour in a game where Radamel Falcao scored his first Manchester United goal and Angel di Maria gave arguably his best performance at the club.
In the true, unpredictable style of football, Di Maria and Falcao have since faded badly, while the team has started winning in style.
This one may prove to be a hard fought game but Manchester United will go into it all guns blazing after losing ground in the race for a top four berth with the defeat to Chelsea last weekend.
