Even the most optimistic Southampton fan would have little confidence that the squad will remain completely intact over the summer. While, The Saints are now a serious force to be reckoned with, such is the nature of football that they will struggle to hold onto Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne this summer.

But, as long as the genius that is Ronald Koeman remains at the helm, Southampton fans can rest easy about summer recruitment. And latest reports suggest that they are after two excellent players to fill the inevitable gaps in the squad.

The Daily Mail reports:

Southampton plan double swoop for Feyenoord stars Tonny Vilhena and Jordy Clasie

Jordy Clasie

The 23 year old has already forced his way into the Holland team (11 caps since his debut in 2012) after four excellent seasons for Feyenoord. He’s more of a creator than finisher but still chips in with a decent goal return – he’s averaged about 6 a season over thefts 4 years – but it’s his passing which really catches the eye. A busy, athletic and clever player, he would complement big Victor Wanyama in the engine room.

He would apparently cost in the region of £10m.

Tony Vilhena

The same source says:

Southampton target Tonny Vilhena wants to quit Feyenoord this summer.

The 20 year old winger is raw but has really good pace off the mark and not a little trickery in his boots.
