PICTURE: An Arsenal XI with Isco squeezed in

4-2-3-1

Class but not necessary

We have already said that we feel a move for Isco is unlikely. It just appears that the midfield is by far the strongest area of Arsenal’s squad. The Gunners could win things with their current midfield if they had a better striker, another world class defender and perhaps a keeper of top quality (Ospina may yet prove to be that man).

Far be it for us to recommend the expensive recruitment of yet another playmaker, but his name has been dragged up in relation to an Arsenal move again by the tabloids and, when you look at the quality that this lad has on the ball, maybe he would be too good to turn down if he was indeed available.

He would probably say that his best position is behind the striker. But he could also play wide in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Arsene Wenger tends to stick with the latter formation so let’s try to squeeze him in there first. He doesn’t have electric pace but he does have the trickery to get past people so he could feasibly play out wide. So you could play him wide and drop Cazorla and Ramsey like so:

4-2-3-1

Or, you could try to field as many of your top players as possible and pop Sanchez up top. He will score 20 league goals from there because he’s an excellent finisher.

But we feel that he is more effective running at defences from deeper positions.

If Isco came in, our own choice would be to get rid of Ozil. Yes, he amazes at times, but does he do it often enough? Will he make the difference in a really tough fixture?

We have tried to drop Ozil on many occasions but many of you Arsenal fans are up in arms about it, so we shall leave him there and perhaps settle on the 4-3-3. Still no Cazorla or Ramsey though.

4-3-3

Isco would be a classy addition but, overall, it just seems that Arsenal should be investing elsewhere in the squad. Unless they sell Cazorla, Walcott and Ozil this summer then it’s difficult to see how Wenger would be vastly improving the team by signing the skilful Spaniard.

Arsenal fans: would you bring him in?
