According to German media outlet BILD, Manchester United have made an offer for the brilliant Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels. They say:

With visionary Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp signalling his intent to leave the club this summer, there is a danger that his brilliant squad could be further broken up by the European elite. And with players like Ilkay Gundogan, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels drawing interest from all over Europe, it may be more of a surprise if any of them were still at the club come August.
Hummels can take Manchester United’s defence to a different level
Manchester United have of course improved in defence over the last couple of months as Phil Jones and Chris Smalling have finally stepped up to the plate. But neither gets near to the passing quality which Manchester United fans almost took for granted when Rio Ferdinand was at the club – Hummels can bring top distribution back to the defence and, at 26, he’s coming into his prime.
After such long-term speculation you feel that a move is imminent for the player. The hope in Manchester is that Hummels can be persuaded to don the red jersey for the biggest move of his career.
