4-3-3: Manchester United’s strongest XI vs Everton – Di Maria and Falcao Out

Back up to speed

The biggest problem with Manchester United’s injury list at the weekend was not so much in defence, where Paddy McNair and Luke Shaw coped manfully, but the fact the injuries deprived Manchester United of their main attacking weapon up top.

Wayne Rooney has proven himself to be comfortably Manchester United’s best centre forward over the last couple of months and, although Radamel Falcao worked hard, he just isn’t the player that he used to be.

Presented with the opportunities that Falcao had during the Chelsea game Rooney would surely have scored at least one.

So the good news ahead of the Everton game is that Rooney will most likely be restored at number 9.

Before the Chelsea game Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that:

“We had a big hope that Blind and Jones could reach this game but they can’t.”

So even if the Carrick isn’t available for the Everton game then Blind should be able to step into the anchor man role. This, in turn, would release Rooney into his best position once more.

The ideal scenario would, of course, be to have Michael Carrick back in the side – but we all know that muscle pulls can take a few weeks to heal.

So we shall assume that Blind and Jones make the team but will err on the side of caution with Carrick.

So here is our best XI against Everton, which should also enjoy the pace of Luke Shaw, who gave a brilliant performance against Chelsea.

Manchester United fans: let’s have your elevens for another must win match.
