Manchester United identify Carrick replacement

Manchester United couldn't get anywhere near Barcelona in their last two meetings

Next Cazza?

Michaal Carrick is in the form of his life but, at 34, Manchester United are already looking for a successor. Reports this week suggest that they may move for a World Cup winner to fill the void left by his eventual demise.

The Daily Mail reports:

Sami Khedira is still weighing up his next move but has interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.

At 28 Khedira is in his prime. He’s been kept out of the Real Madrid team by Toni Kross and Luka Modric but still has so much to offer Manchester United. Doubts about his fitness were more than answered during The World Cup where he was one of the better performers for the eventual champions.

But he will surely move on this summer and there will be no shortage of suitors. Khedira may not have the passing range of Carrick but he’s still a great anchor man – strong, energetic and a player who puts the team before himself. We have no doubt that he would be great success at Manchester United and he may be less of a risk than the long-term absentee Kevin Strootman.

Let’s see Khedira in action. Manchester United fans: would you welcome the signing of Khedira or would you rather sing a younger player?
