While it’s not a completely outlandish prediction, some will find this quite a bold shout, on form.

Because while Manchester City are having a major slump – they have lost 4 of their last 10 games – and could lose further ground at the weekend against a rejuvenated Manchester United side, Arsenal are absolutely on fire.

The possible implication here is that, while Arsenal are currently flying in second place and playing beautifully, they still retain a capacity to lose against the top teams. But, having beaten Manchester United and Liverpool of late, the soft-centre may well have been resolved by the introduction of players like Ospina, Gabriel and Coquelin to the spine of the team. Many think that Arsenal are going to take some catching now.

Manchester United will also have something to say about the final positions and we believe that they are currently best placed to finish second, despite a much harder run in than City. Because, while their rivals seem to be in disarray there is a real unity about Manchester United – a momentum and hunger about the place.

But Manchester City are a wounded beast of the highest quality and the game at Old Trafford this weekend will go a long way to deciding the final positions. A win or draw for City will give them a big boost before a relatively straightforward run in.

But we think that the final table will read Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal.

Let’s have your thoughts.
