Scary

Chelsea are already miles ahead of the pack in The Premier League this season, so it may send shivers down the spine of the opposition to see the players that the club is being linked with today.

The Telegraph reckons that Chelsea are looking to secure either Paul Pogba – who looks like an inevitable departure from Juventus this summer if the price is right – or Atletico Madrid gem Koke. Either of these two would provide the thrust from midfield that would superbly complement the artistry of Cesc Fabregas and the defensive brilliance of Nemanja Matic.

The same reports concludes that Chelsea still want Raphael Varane of Real Madrid. We have always maintained that, with Pepe and Sergio Ramos coming into the latter furlongs of their careers, a player of Varane’s exquisite quality would be really difficult to prise from the Spanish giant. But if Real Madrid intend to use their two veterans again next season then Varane may decide that enough is enough.

But he really is a marvellous player in the ilk of Rio Ferdinand – a ball player who glides across the turf and makes the game look easy. We can’t understand why he isn’t already getting a game for Real Madrid.

The final Hollywood signing speculation of the day comes from The Daily Mail, who report that The Blues have joined the race for the sublime Raheem Sterling.

If Jose could sign the pacey winger to play on the opposite flank to Eden Hazard, rejuvenate his defence with Varane and add the dynamic talents of Paul Pogba for next season then we might as well just had the title to Chelsea right now!

Here’s how they could look come September. Non-Chelsea fans look away now.
