Manchester City’s marquee summer signing?

Until Raheem Sterling signs a new deal at his club there will be intense speculation about the future of arguably England’s greatest talent.

For our money, two things are almost certain. Firstly, at the age of 20, he will put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield. He has loads of time to go elsewhere and he’s enjoying life on Merseyside. Secondly, if he does decide to move on, Manchester City will be keen.

Now that Manchester City are out of Europe the planning for next season will begin and few would be surprised if the club started the next campaign with a new coach and a raft of new players. Some may argue that the current crop have come to the end of their cycle at the club and it’s time for some new blood and new ideas to take the club on again.

With his pace, trickery and direct approach, Sterling would certainly be one to get bums off seats and The Sun reckons:

MANCHESTER CITY are willing to splash out £50million on Raheem Sterling this summer.

City have made Sterling their No1 target and are encouraged by the fact he has not signed a new deal at Anfield.

In today’s market that price might turn out to be on the cheap side. With 5 or 6 clubs now able to afford that level of fee a bidding war could ensure for a player with at least 10 years left at the top.

Manchester City could certainly use his pace and creativity but we feel that they, along with all the other suitors, may have to wait for a couple of years at least before they can get their hands on this lad.

Let’s take a look at the lad in a action. Manchester City fans: a realistic target?
