In a nod to the notion that money doesn’t always guarantee success, reports this weekend suggest that Romelu Lukaku could leave Everton as early as this summer.
Everton paid a club record fee to bring the striker to Goodison last summer, after an excellent season on loan. But his form hasn’t been as convincing this season – Lukaku has bagged 10 in 33 games and hasn’t always been as dominant as he was last term – and this has raised questions about his long-term future at the club.
And The Star reckons that big spending Bundesliga side Wolfsburg could be keen:
Wolfsburg eye Everton’s £28million striker Romelu Lukaku
We have to say that he hasn’t looked quite as convincing this season so far. But we have seen some excellent performances too (notably the one against Chelsea at Goodison) and, at 21 years of age and having played so much football in the last year, he’s allowed a mini-dip isn’t he?
We have spoken to Everton fans who think that there are big flaws in his game. But he is still one of the better strikers to have been at the club over the last decade and he will be a valuable player for Everton if they hold on to him.
Let’s see him banging them in for Everton. Toffees fans: would you like to raise some cash with his sale or hold on?
