Angel di Maria’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has reassured Manchester United fans that the winger is happy at the club, amidst regular speculation that the Argentine is unsettled and wants to leave, perhaps even as early as this summer.
Di Maria’s house was the subject of an attempted break in recently and some thought that this would be the straw that broke the camel’s back. But Mendes has waxed lyrical about Di Maria’s relationship with Manchester United:
“He was at Real Madrid and wanted to go to another of the world’s best teams; now he is and he is happy.”
Di Maria’s season has been slowed by injury and, perhaps as a result, his form hasn’t hit the heights of the last campaign, where he was instrumental in bringing La Decima to the Bernabeu.
While he hasn’t been as effective in his new surroundings, there were signs against Burnley in the week, that he was returning to full fitness and form. He provided one assist and won a penalty for his side, which RvP converted.
The next 12 months will be pivotal to Manchester United’s long-term future and we feel that keeping Di Maria, and getting the best out of him, will be one of the most important factors in whether United can return to the top of the pile.
