Manchester City have not given up hope of extending James Milner’s term at the club, according to latest reports. Having played a bit part role for Manchester City over the last few years it seemed certain that the player would move on when his contract expires in the summer.

And, if newspaper reports are to be believed, there are no lack of suitors for his signature.

But The Daily Mail reports Tuesday afternoon that Manchester City are enthusiastic about keeping him.

City HAVE NOT given up on Milner signing new deal

Sportsmail understands Manchester City and James Milner have not yet given up on reaching an agreement that would see the midfielder extend his stay in Manchester.

It’s easy to see why. Although he wouldn’t necessarily get into the strongest Manchester City XI he has played 27 times for the club already this season. And that’s because elite teams can’t always field their best sides because of injury.

The great thing about Milner is that he can fit in comfortably in so many positions – he’ll do a job at right back if asked, can play on either flank or in the midfield. Milner is unspectacular but solid and will always put a shift in. It’s a testament to him that, while so many of his countrymen have failed to make the grade at ‘new’ Manchester City, Milner has stayed and played a decent amount of games each year.

The fact that he is a ‘homegrown’ star will be an added incentive for Manchester City to keep him. And, at 29 years of age, he still has lead in the pencil.

Let’s take a look at him in action.
