We have spoken regularly about Real Madrid’s potential interest in goalkeeper David de Gea.
Latest reports suggest that he remains the Spanish giants’ number one goalkeeping target and that he still hasn’t agreed a new contract with his current club.
British media outlet The Daily Express reports:
United have placed a £50m valuation on De Gea, but are yet to open talks to extend his contract which runs up in 2016.
Real meanwhile are looking for a natural long-term successor to Casillas, whose Bernabeu future is the subject of intense speculation.
Although Real could face a potential transfer ban, as they are being investigated for under-age signings, De Gea is their top goalkeeping target.
With Real Madrid being investigated for their transfer activity, they might decide on a flurry of business before any ban takes effect.
And with the goalkeeping situation not really sorted out in the long term perhaps De Gea will be their priority between now and the end of January.
There is no question that he is good enough to play for Los Blancos – De Gea is on the cusp of becoming the No.1 for Spain for a long time to come – but he is already at a huge club and one that doesn’t need sell its best players to balance the books.
We have said it before and we will say it again – this deal looks inevitable. The question is simply when he moves to Real Madrid.
Let’s have look at him in action. Madrid fans: worth the cash?
