Report: One more major signing for Real Madrid in January?

We feel that Real Madrid have done some really smart business in January with the additions of Lucas Silva from Cruzeiro and Norwegian wonderkid Martin Odegaard.

Both were wanted by other clubs and both look too have vast futures in the game. But they are players of potential right now. Will Real Madrid add a first team contender in January?

Reports in England suggest that Real Madrid may be planning one more transfer swoop. The Express reckons that Los Blancos are in competition with Manchester United for the signature of a young defender:

REAL MADRID are ready to spoil Manchester United and Arsenal’s plans to bring Athletic Bilbao star Aymeric Laporte to the Premier League.

Spanish paper Marca claims Real Madrid have entered the race for Laporte’s signature, with Sergio Ramos and Pepe’s Bernabeu futures both up in the air.

We are surprised that Real Madrid haven’t been linked more regularly with this guy already. Having seen him performing every week in La Liga they would be well aware of his true quality. And this is surely a centre back who will be successful at a major club for a decade.

Laporte is just 20 years of age but he is already so strong and looks mature enough to play for teams like Real Madrid. Certainly Manchester United could use him, having been poor in defence this season.

But with Raphael Varane also waiting in the wings, perhaps Real will wait to see how this one pans out. Its a lot of money to pay in January and, while Manchester United may be the most likely to bid, there is reason to believe that the battle for this signature will be fought in the summer rather than now.

Let’s see Laporte in action. Real Madrid fans: Better than Pepe or Ramos?

At this point Real can do without Sergio Ramos. He becomes more of a liability lately. He pretty much have a hand in every goal scored against real over the 4-5 game. He is the Ramos we saw at the world cup. He thinks he so good that he does not need play with discipline. Let him go
