Arsenal are said to be tracking Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Neto as a possible long-term solution in between the sticks.
The Daily Mail has reported:
Arsenal keeping tabs on Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Neto with Wojciech Szczesny’s future cast into further doubt
25 year old Neto has been an increasingly solid performer for Fiorentina since joining from Atlético Paranaense in 2011. He’s yet to play for the Brazil seniors but is tipped to do so and has turned out for the U23s on a couple of occasions.
David Ospina has played the last three games for Arsenal and not conceded a single goal. But, for our money, Neto looks like a more commanding and better long term proposition. Arsenal have to get it right with their keeper, at the next attempt, to provide a proper platform for the defence.
We think that, while some will remain faithful to Wojciech Szczesny, that this would be a great move for Arsenal. For too long the club has neglected the patent fact that the Pole will probably always have a mistake in him. He’s had years in the Arsenal team to iron out to errors but he doesn’t look any better now than he did 3 years ago. At 24 Szczesny can no longer be excused for the irregular but costly howlers.
Let’s see Neto in action. Arsenal fans: good enough?
