We have to say that we find this one a little strange. But Jose has worked with the lad in past and when you look at the overall transfer record of the Portuguese maestro you can see that the Chelsea boss doesn’t often get it wrong in the transfer market.
Latest reports suggest that Chelsea could make a move for a Real Madrid man:
Chelsea could beat Arsenal and Liverpool in battle to sign Madrid star Alvaro Arbeloa
Arbeloa – who won The World Cup with Spain in 2010 – is of course a very experienced right back, who can also operate on the left. At 31, this experience and adaptability could be key for Chelsea, who look as if they could have a serious fixture pile up over the next few months.
But with Branislav Ivanovic on the right, Azpilicueta able to play brilliantly on both flanks and Luis desperate for game time, we would have liked to see Jose use a youngster or indeed purchase a player of promise rather than go for a shorter term solution.
Arbeloa could argue that, at 31, he still has lead in the pencil and could be a worthy utility man for a few years. And who are we to argue with man who brought in Cesc and Diego in the summer?
Let’s see Arbeloa at his best. Chelsea fans: keen to add player like this?
