As we were hearing news of Mathieu Debuchy’s nightmare start to life at Arsenal continuing with a dislocated shoulder, rumours were also flooding the media about the fact that Ex-Gunner Bacary Sagna is to be chopped from Manchester City’s Champions League squad to make way for the incoming Wilfried Bony:
Man City ace Bacary Sagna facing Champions League chop to make way for Wilfried Bony
Is it just us or does a return to Arsenal make perfect sense? Of course the biggest issue here would be how Manchester City replace the Frenchman. But James Milner would make a great understudy for Pablo Zabaleta and the Argentinian has a great fitness record anyway.
The truth is that it hasn’t gone that well for Sagna since his move and, if he does get removed form the CL squad it’s a further nightmare for the lad.
If he was asked back to Arsenal, even on loan, then he would surely consider it. The 31 year old has only played 11 times for Manchester City – 6 times in the league and must now know that he will never get in the team ahead of Zabaleta who is younger and superior in quality.
Sagna must be desperate for game time and the Arsenal boo boys would soon disperse if Sagna quickly returned to the form which got him his move in the first place.
We expect to hear more about this one in the January window.
Arsenal fans: would you be happy to see him back for the rest of the season?
