The latest comments of Juventus star Paul Pogba are a far cry from those which he made when he left Manchester United a couple of years ago.

“When I saw Scholes come back part of me was really happy as he’s a legend, but I knew it was the end of me. The manager thought Scholes had to play, not me, and after that I had to leave. Maybe Ferguson will regret it now, but I don’t think about Manchester United any more. I have no regrets about leaving Manchester, none at all.”

Back then he seemed particularly unhappy with the treatment that he got at the club. But, in new comments, that seem to pay lip service to Manchester United, he waxes lyrical about the club once more.

Pogba admitted that he was impatient to get first-team starts – that’s why he left the club – but that he still has great affection for it. This follows a week in which there has been renewed speculation about Manchester United making a huge move for the lad.

‘I’m impatient,’ Pogba said in the latest FourFourTwo magazine about his exit. ‘It was the feeling I had. The coach (Sir Alex Ferguson) had faith in me but didn’t put me on. He said that I was too young.

‘He said “your time will come” but it never did. It didn’t come. But it does not mean I will speak ill of Manchester United. I love the club.’

Pogba is a fantastic footballer and one who could really light up the stage at Manchester United. We could never understand why Manchester United let him go in the first place as he was giving brilliant performances during the few opportunities he got in the side.

Figures like 80 million Euros have been floating about over the last few months in relation to his fee. We think that it’s an awful lot of money to pay, despite his age and talent.

Those sorts of figures should be reserved for the top three or four players in the world and, while Pogba may one day scale those heights, he’s not there yet. So you are paying a lot of money for potential which may or may not be completely fulfilled.

We are big fans of investing in youth. But there has to be a limit on how far you go – how inflated you allow the market to become.

It’s a big investment and one which Manchester United may be apprehensive about making considering how they let him go for peanuts just a couple of seasons ago.

If we had 80 million Euro to spend on a footballer for Manchester United would we put it all on Poggers? Probably not. But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be an excellent player and one that could improve the Manchester United side.

Let’s take a look at him in action. Manchester United fans: worth the cash?
