Have Arsenal found their leader for the back line?

Potential

Arsenal need to sort out their goalkeeping situation. Szczesny has been given ample time to prove his worth to the club. And while keepers regularly have quirky natures – the drummers of the football team – the Pole sometimes looks as if his head is in bits.

He isn’t the keeper that we would want in between the sticks in an ideal world anyway. Arsenal should be looking for a top keeper – an established stopper who knows the ropes and has the charisma to boss the back line.

To this end, we aren’t sure why Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger didn’t make an attempt to sign Victor Valdes. Surely he could have done a good job as number 1 at Arsenal instead of sitting on the bench at United?

The other obvious, if difficult to attain, choice would be Petr Cech. But recent media scribblings imply that a younger keeper may be on the horizon again.

Tabloid reports suggest:

ARSENAL will consider launching a £12million bid to sign Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin.

The 22 year old Italian is highly regarded and made his debut for the Italy senior team in 2014 having played at every youth international level. He’s also known to have a big personality and isn’t scared to let his defenders know about it if he feels that they are out of position.

It’s always a gamble signing young keepers – even the best of them have to get several high profile mistakes out of their system before they settle down. But, if the signing comes off, Arsenal could have a long term solution for the back line.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Arsenal fans: a wise choice or would Arsene be making the same mistake again by putting a young’un in goal?
