Everton could make quick fire signing – report

Bargain?

It was a great performance for Everton against City at the weekend – especially as The Toffees had to come back from a goal down at a point in the game when they must have been getting fatigued.

The hope is that Everton can now build on this result. They have a really talented squad after all – we can’t remember them ever having so many top stars – which makes their current league position even more hard to stomach.

But perhaps we should expect one or two reinforcements in January if a bargain presents itself. And Everton manager Roberto Martinez is reportedly ready to move for just such a great value gem.

The Daily Mirror reports:

Everton eye transfer of Ahmad Benali as Italians Brescia face financial disaster

Apparently the players in the Brescia squad haven’t been paid in two weeks and things could reach breaking point this week. Celtic are also said to be interested, according to the same source, but Roberto Martinez may fancy him for Everton – surely a compelling move for the lad.

Benali spent 9 years at Manchester City as a youngster and was born in the North West of England. He even played for the England U17s before making his senior international debut for Libya in 2012. He went on loan form City to Rochdale in 2011 before moving to Brescia, where he has scored 3 goals in 35 games and really made a mark.

The youngster would have a lot of competition for a place in an Everton midfield which has great depth right now. But Roberto Martinez is always prepared to give a youngster minutes if they impress and, at 22, Benali has time on his side.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Everton fans: does he tickle your fancy?
