Real Madrid could have signed World Cup hero but opted not to – report

Real Madrid were offered the chance to sign World Cup hero Thomas Muller in the summer, according to latest reports.

British media outlet The Daily Express says:

He’s a funny one old Thomas Muller isn’t he? Sort of like one of those incredibly annoying tennis players who always beat you even though you have far better technique. They just keep padding the ball bag and letting you make the shots until you hit an unforced error!

Like the annoying tennis player, Muller’s talents aren’t immediately discernible. In reality his positioning is superb, he has a great knack for finding space and he is a very composed finisher.

In fact composure is perhaps his best quality. He rarely gives the ball away and never let’s you down.

Whether he is the sort of player that would be suited to Real Madrid is questionable however. They like to employ footballers with great technique and real dynamism.

For all his qualities, Muller isn’t the most explosive player and delicate passing isn’t his most obvious forte.

So we can understand why Real didn’t bite. Let’s have look at the lad in action. Real Madrid fans: good enough to improve the side?
