Top transfers are hard to complete in January and this make Arsene Wenger’s task more difficult. But he has to take some responsibility for not buying properly in the summer.
He brought Danny Welbeck to Arsenal but he is another player who is more of a jack of all trades than a specialist. And specialists are exactly what the club needs right now.
Ideally they would take specialist keeper, anchor man and finisher. Add those guys and they would surely be challenging more seriously at the top of the table.
It seems so simple form the outside looking in.
Reports continue to suggest that Arsenal could make a move for the excellent Mario Mandzukic, with Edinson Cavani an unlikely addition in January.
The Express says:
ARSENE WENGER will step up his efforts to land Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid in January after ruling out a move for Edinson Cavani.
The source suggests that the player could be available now that Fernando Torres has moved back to Atletico Madrid.
But, with 6 in 13 league gaes, and having only moved to the club in the summer, the 28 year old is unlikely to want to up sticks mid-season and move to a club where he is ineligible for The Champions League.
We think that Arsenal will add one or two players in January. But they may well have to wait until the summer to bring in another top forward. Arsenal are more likely to snare a defender and/or midfielder.
Let’s see Mandzukic in action.
