There was clearly some sadness on the part of Angel di Maria when he realised that his days at Real Madrid were numbered. At times he has seemed a little bit mournful for his old club since he joined Manchester United in the summer. But he is finally settling in and, after a recent groin injury, we expect him to show his best form for Manchester United hitherto in the next few months – he has been good so far but some way off his best.
The spirit of Manchester United has always been praised by people associated with the club and Di Maria seems to be enjoying the contributions of some of his teammates. He reserved special praise for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney who he called ‘an impressive player’ on South America’s Radio America (via Manutd.com):
“Rooney is an impressive player,” he explained. “He plays 90 minutes in every game. He is always committed, giving everything in every match.”
It’s difficult not to be impressed by Wayne Rooney and we feel that the new Manchester United coach Luis van Gaal has been similarly surprised and pleased by the skill set and energy levels of the brilliant Englishman, who he made captain in August.
We do feel that the likes of Wayne Rooney, Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao haven’t quite synchronised their games yet. We are hoping that in future months and years they will get to know eachothers’ games better and can develop the almost telepathic understanding that teams like Manchester City and Chelsea are currently demonstrating on a regular basis. There is a really long way to go before that happens but the only way is up.
And the top stars are showing signs of gelling, not least with Wayne Rooney’s brilliant pass which picked out Angel di Maria for the second goal against Yeovil in the FA Cup at the weekend.
