Chelsea: Transfer Deal Done

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho continues to quietly tweak the squad to his preference and that means that Mark Schwarzer has been offloaded.

The 42 year old stopper only played 12 times in almost two seasons after joining Chelsea in 2013. But he’s been an accomplished option to have in the squad in case the big boys got injured.

ESPN confirmed late on Tuesday evening:

Leicester City have signed Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer on a contract until June 2016.

The Australian has played for the national team a remarkable 109 times and seems to have been floating around The Premier League almost since it began, playing for Bradford (way back in 1996), Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea before his latest move.

This move should give Chelsea fans some reassurance that Petr Cech won’t be leaving the club any time soon. The brilliant veteran has been linked with a move since he was replaced as number 1 by the precocious Thibaut Courtois and a transfer seemed likely for a keeper who, at 32, has years left in the tank.

But, unless Chelsea bring in another keeper in January you would imagine that Cech will be staying until the summer at least.

Chelsea fans: Do you still have enough cover in the goalkeeping position or are you expecting an arrival in January?
