Manchester United’s United’s midfield has improved massively since the return of Michael Carrick. But his current form only serves to highlight the importance of his role in the engine room. At 33, and with such an athletic role in the side, it’s realistic to think that Carrick could begin his decline at any moment. We have seen 34 year old Steven Gerrard drop down the pecking order at Liverpool despite his obvious class and Manchester United need a long-term solution for the brilliant England man.
Several names have been regularly doing the rounds in relation to midfield reinforcements but The Mirror throws a new one into the hat today. They say:
Manchester United are set to make it a three-way battle for Morgan Schneiderlin.
Arsene Wenger at the Gunners and Mauricio Pochettino, his counterpart at the White Hart Lane club, are both willing to pay £27million for the 25-year-old France international.
Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be willing to pay £27m for the player. It seems like a lot for a player who isn’t prolific in front of goal. But, at 25, The Frenchman has bloomed into a star performer for Southampton and France and he does appear to be on the move sooner rather than later.
We would prefer Manchester United to go for Kevin Strootmnan, who defends beautifully but is also known for his goalscoring exploits. But Schnederlin has begun to add goals to his game and may be deemed less of a risk as he has had not major injuries of late.
Let’s see the lad in action. Manchester United fans: keen?
