Any reasonable discussion about the best young players in the world would have to include Ross Barkley. Despite injuries stalling his momentum and development at times, this is a player with the world at his feet.
Be it mischief making or inside information, we aren’t sure. But The Daily Mail writes that Everton could allow their young genius to leave the club – possibly as early as January – in order to find a squad rebuild after a poor season in which Everton have won only 5 league games (compared to 21 by the end of last).
The Daily Mail says that Manchester City are prepared to pay megabucks for the player:
Ross Barkley is set to become the January transfer window’s biggest domestic saga and possibly the biggest domestic deal.
Everton are ready to consider selling prized asset Barkley – perhaps for as much as £60million – to fund a spending spree in order to shore up their faltering squad and make sure the club does not tumble into the relegation battle.
In that respect it is understood Everton will listen to offers is excess of £45m for Barkley.
Manchester City interested in midfielder and will offer him £130,000 a week
But we can’t imagine Manchester United letting a player like Barkley go to Manchester City without a fight. United have lacked spark and creativity in the midfield for years. Some would opine that Basrkley is better suited to the number 10 role and Louis van Gaal is well stocked on those.
But Barkley is just as good in the number 7 role in the centre of the park and he would certainly give Manchester United more dynamism, creativity and drive going forward.
We have said before that whoever signs Barkley will be the dominant force in England for the next decade. He may not have had a great season so far but, at 21, he’s the closest thing to Wayne Rooney amongst the new generation of English footballers – he’s strong as an ox but has the delicate touch of a Silva or Iniesta. He can play pretty much anywhere and is the sort of player that every top team should have.
Let’s see him in a action.
Manchester United fans: should Louis drop what he’s doing and prioritise Ross?
