Hmmm. Dubious about this one.
The Daily Express reports at the dawn of 2015 that Manchester United will make a rather surprising target their main target for next summer.
While many Manchester United fans believe that the team needs defenders and pace on the flanks, this report suggests that United will ‘splash’ silly money on the brilliant Frenchman Paul Pogba:
Man Utd to splash £77m (98.9m Euros) on Juventus man Paul Pogba after ending Gareth Bale pursuit
The 21 year old, who left Manchester United in 2012, has blossomed into a marvellous specimen, scoring and creating goals and dominating midfield battles. He has also become an integral member of the France national team since his debut in 2013, scoring 5 in 22 appearances. He also played a big part in The World Cup in Brazil.
But is he precisely what Manchester Unites needs? With Wayne Rooney playing so well in attacking midfield Pogba seems like an expensive luxury at this point.
That’s not to say that he isn’t a class act. If Manchester United did swallow their pride and pay 98.9m for a player they let go for peanuts then they would at least be able to expect a decade of top service out of the lad. He could also play further back in the midfield. But it seems like a lot to pay for an anchor man.
Let’s see him in action. Manchester United fans: keen?
