Official: Manchester United sensation wins award ahead of fellow legends and the best player in the world

Manchester United superstar Angel di Maria has won the award for Argentina’s foreign based player of the year beating the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero to the title – no mean feat in such an eventful year for his country, in footballing terms.

Manchester United have yet to see the best of Di Maria. He started brightly but has been a victim of the constant changes taking place due to injuries in the team.

We believe that once the team finds a rhythm Di Maria can only benefit. Knowing where his team mates are going to be will help his and the team’s speed of movement and overall play.

Indeed, it’s been an altogether more impressive sight watching Di Maria play for Argentina than Manchester United in 2014. For his country he has been the catalyst for everything good. He was integral to Argentina’s progress to the semi final of The World Cup and many believe that, had he not been injured in the semi-final, Argentina would have gone to lift the crown ahead of Germany.

We shall never know. What we do know is that there is a lot more to come form Di Maria for Manchester United. Hopefully starting this weekend against Aston Villa.

Let’s see some Di Maria highlights from the year. Manchester United fans: is this United’s best player?
