Pure Class

After writing regularly about Manchester United’s need for better wide men, we hoped that LvG would move for Alexis Sanchez in the summer.

That one didn’t happen and Arsenal have instead benefitted hugely already. Our next objet desire for Manchester United is Marco Reus. At 25 he’s got the lot and would surely be a much better long term investment than 31 year old Arjen Robben.

With the window only a few weeks away the tenuous links have already begun. The latest suggests that Dortmund have found a replacement for Reus. Ever keen to get deals across the line, The Star says:

Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool receive GIGANTIC boost as Dortmund prepare for Reus’ departure

Sources in Italy claim Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp is bracing himself for the departure of Reus by preparing a bid for AC Milan forward Stephan El Shaarawy.

Klopp is said to be a huge admirer of the 22-year-old, and numerous publications in Italy claim he will make the Milan hitman his number one transfer target if Reus does leave the Westfalenstadion.

Ok, this is hardly a substantial rumour. But we find it hard to believe that Manchester United wouldn’t be interested in a player of this quality and profile. He’s got two great feet, he’s quick, decisive and scores goals – lots of the blighters.

There really is very little not to like about Reus and someone is going to snare an absolute superstar when he finally moves on – as seems inevitable.

For Manchester United fans’ sakes we hope we aren’t aren’t writing a similar piece in 12 months time about how Reus has slipped through the net like Sanchez did. Because this guy is going to be a success wherever he goes.

Let’s take a look at him in action.
