Everton have as strong a midfield as they have in many a year, but Roberto Martinez will be looking to strengthen every area of the side over the next few windows as the ambitious Spaniard dares to believe that he can muscle in on the top four.
One player who has really disappointed us over the last couple of years is Spurs midfielder Moussa Dembele.
When he left Fulham we thought that we were about to see the blooming of a world star. Dembele was quick, superb with the ball at his feet and had that unpredictable edge that great players possess.
Perhaps he was used in too defensive a position at Spurs. Perhaps he lost some of his desire. Whatever the case, he just hasn’t become the regular match winner that we had hoped.
But maybe the mercurial Martinez can find that missing spark. Spurs could well have a reshuffle soon and Dembele could make way.
Everton have been installed as favourites with bookmaker Bet Victor to sign the player if he does move in January, at odds of 4/1, with Southampton way back at 12s.
We believe that Everton could get the best out of this lad. Still only 27 he could play alongside James McCarthy in the holding role or further forward and cause all sorts of problems.
Let’s take a look at him in action. Everton fans: is he a player that boils your potatoes?
