Some of us were concerned about whether Didier Drogba would be able to do himself justice on his return to Chelsea at the age of 36.
But now that he’s up to speed on his match fitness all of the questions have been answered. His performance this week against Tottenham proved, beyond doubt, that he can be a really important member of this team and squad as they challenge on all fronts.
With ongoing concerns about the fitness of star man Diego Costa it’s great to know that Chelsea have a like for like replacement. Loic Remy is an excellent player but Chelsea have to adapt their style slightly when they use him. There is no such problem with the Ivory Coast legend.
But Chelsea can use Diego Costa once more, after he returns from his one-game suspension, this weekend. The only two injured players that Chelsea currently have are Gary Cahill and Nathan Ake.
We are expecting Cahill back as his head injury, sustained in the first half against Totters, wasn’t serious. If he doesn’t make it then Chelsea won’t be too concerned because Kurt Zouma is looking really good.
So here is our strongest Chelsea 11 to face Newcastle in what should be a really entertaining and tough game at the start of a difficult month for The Blues.
Let’s have your elevens people…
