Real Madrid

Mr Perfection says ‘we didn’t play to our usual level’ as Real Madrid make it 15 wins on the bounce

Carlo - Gone

Legend

Real Madrid are special this season. After winning The Champions League in May and losing the services of Angel Di Maria and Xabi Alonso, many expected that this season would be something of an anti-clmax.

But the fact that La Decima is in the bag has done nothing to decrease the appetites of this squad for more success. Real Madrid look like they want to dominate for years and the average age of their team suggests that it’s possible.

We think that the biggest catalyst in this amazing run of form is the big man Carlo Ancelotti. While most Real Madrid fans were celebrating a 15th straight win, Carlo was picking holes out of the performance:

We didn’t play to our usual level, we were slower than usual. But we defended well and controlled the game. That we have put together a run of 15 wins is a great achievement for the club. Basel played well, impressively, with a lot of heart. It wasn’t easy to win here.

Sometimes the perfect coach finds the perfect club at the perfect time. Although Real Madrid are known for changing managers every few years they would surely hold on to Carlo for longer if the Italian shows an inclination to extend his stay. He’s just got the right blend of experience, composure, man-management skill and tactical awareness to manage this monster of a club in exactly the right manner.

We fear for any team that gets in Real Madrid’s way in the competition if they continue in this form.

Real Madrid fans: is Carlo the best coach in recent memory?
