Just when things were looking perfect for Real Madrid, one of their main men gets injured. And the news isn’t good.
English media outlet, The Guardian, reports:
Real Madrid’s Luka Modric out for at least three months with thigh injury
“I felt a very strong pain in the upper part of my thigh. It still hurts. It is a shame, but football is like that,” said Modric after the game.
You could argue that Modric has been as important as any Real Madrid player this season. He’s surely in the best form of his career and was developing an unbelievable relationship with Toni Kroos who only joined the club this summer.
Luckily for them Real Madrid have a tailor made replacement in Sami Khedira, who may well be offered the sort of new contract that he desires if he gets a run in the team and returns to his best form.
We actually believe that this could be a blessing for Real Madrid in the long term as it will give Carlo Ancelotti a reminder of just how good the German powerhouse is.
If Khedira can continue the form that he showed at The World Cup then Real Madrid might not miss Modric at all. Khedira has a different style but can have a similar impact in the engine room.
Madrid fans: Is Khedira a worthy replacement for Modric?
